Account Setup Instructions for Social Dashboard
Connecting your social profiles to Social Dashboard only takes a few minutes, but there are a few important steps to follow carefully.
Step 1: Log In to Social Dashboard
Start by signing in to your Social Dashboard account using your usual login credentials.
Once inside, head to the main dashboard area.
Step 2: Navigate to the Account Connection Area
From the left-hand menu:
- Click Accounts
- Select Connect Accounts
This will open a page displaying all the platforms supported by Social Dashboard.
Step 3: Choose the Platform You Want to Connect
You’ll see options such as:
- Facebook (Profiles & Pages)
- Instagram (Business accounts)
- LinkedIn (Profiles & Pages)
- X (formerly Twitter)
- Google Business Profile
- TikTok (if supported in your plan)
Click the Connect button next to the platform you want to add.
Step 4: Authorise the Platform
You’ll be redirected to that platform’s login and permissions screen.
Here’s what to do:
- Log in to your account (if you’re not already signed in).
- Review the permission request carefully.
- Click Allow or Authorise.
⚠️ Important:
Do not remove or restrict any requested permissions. Social Dashboard needs full publishing and analytics access to function correctly.
Step 5: Select the Specific Profile or Page
For platforms like Facebook or LinkedIn, you may manage multiple pages.
After authorizing:
- Choose the specific pages or profiles you want to connect.
- Confirm your selection.
- Click Connect Account.
Once complete, you’ll be redirected to the Manage Accounts section where you can see your newly connected profile.
Platform-Specific Notes
Facebook & Instagram
- You must be an Admin of the Facebook Page.
- Instagram accounts must be Business profiles.
- Instagram must be connected to a Facebook Page to work properly.
- For LinkedIn Pages, you need Super Admin access.
- Personal LinkedIn profiles may have publishing limitations depending on platform rules.
Google Business Profile
- Make sure you have Owner or Manager access.
- Use the correct Google login tied to the listing.
Common Issues & How to Fix Them
“Permission Error”
Usually means:
- You’re not an admin.
- You didn’t grant full access during authorisation.
- The account is connected under a different login.
Fix: Disconnect and reconnect the account, ensuring all permissions are approved.
Account Already Connected
If the system says the account is already linked:
- It may be connected under another team member.
- It could still be attached to a previous workspace.
Check your Manage Accounts section or contact your admin.
Re-Authorising an Account
Sometimes platforms require reconnection due to expired tokens.
To re-authorize:
- Go to Accounts
- Select the profile
- Click Reconnect
- Repeat the authorisation process
This ensures uninterrupted publishing.
Removing an Account
If you need to disconnect an account:
- Go to Accounts
- Click the three-dot menu beside the profile
- Select Delete or Disconnect
Note: This does not delete the social account itself — it only removes it from Social Dashboard.
